A Passion for Writing & Storytelling

WHO I AM

As a child, I struggled to read. In elementary school I attended separate classes in order to address my deficits with reading and writing. Thanks to a remarkable teacher, who gave her time, energy, and endless patience to me, I discovered that the written world was beautiful and not my enemy.

I love words. I love the way they roll around in your mouth. The way they taste sweet or bitter. How they can sting or soothe. I love reading beautiful sentences and letting the words trickle down around me. I love beautiful writing, soul-crushing epiphanies and hilarious revelations.

My novels are told from the perspectives of strong, flawed, and complicated women. A woman's experience is unique and the young adult age is filled with such great moments. I love the loud-mouth, the fighter, the girl who fell too many times and is afraid to stand back up. I love her cursing and crying and calm in the eye of the storm. I want to write stories that will uplift and inspire women with characters to whom they feel kindred. Growing up I latched on to those types of characters and I'd love to create a world, a character who can do that for someone else.

The Girl behind the Keyboard

I am a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. I majored in English (Fiction Writing), History (European), and minored in German. Since I do not enjoy boredom or free time, I also pursued a certificate in children's literature.

Education is one of my many passions. I worked part-time while attending school so my degree took a year and a half longer, but I cherished every minute and every opportunity Pitt offered.

In August of 2019, I went back to school for my MFA and attend The New School in NYC. I am working on both YA and NA manuscripts and hope to begin the querying process before I graduate in 2021. I am very passionate about #OwnVoices and hope to publish the stories I needed when I was a teenager.

My other passion is photography. I've had a camera in my hands for over eight years now and I don't plan on putting it down anytime soon. Just as writing is a means for my creative expression, photography is as well. It evokes that same feeling deep inside me that needs to tell a story and tell it well. All the photography on this site is mine.

In my free time I love to play video games, watch endless Netflix, and walk in any parks nearby. I love the color rose-gold and the dance dogs do when they are too excited to sit still. That reminds me: dogs are beautiful creatures. They sit atop my list of most important creations in existence.
